We Are Lucky

We Are Lucky

After seeing this video and reading what had happened at a school in another state, I start thinking about how lucky we all are for all the people around us who would stick with us through something like this and help us, care for us and worry for us. Although, hopefully, none of us will have to go through something like this, as a victim or a parent, or even the suspect, I hope everyone can just take a step back and thank everyone for all the things they do for you and how much they care. Because of some brave students at this school, many lives were saved by them not leaving the victims’ sides. This just proves how good it is to have friends, wherever you might be. Even though you always have your parents looking out for you, they can’t be with you and watching over you every hour of the day. But your friends are always there, they are probably going through the same things you are and they understand what it might be like to be in your shoes.

Friends or not, I think we all need to say a few prayers for the students who have been wounded. Many of them were seriously injured and their parents must be the most worried. Their friends are waiting to see them, and we all are trying to figure out what made the 16 year old boy rampage across campus, stabbing his peers.

Wish the students, and the police and investigators luck.

Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks

Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks

Has everyone seen the new upgrade for mac computers?

The upgrade/download is free right now. I don’t know whether it will be later on, but it is now. It only takes about half an hour to download too.

New features:

You can use iMessage on your computer/laptop

There is the maps app downloaded for you

Your calendar has changed so it’s like on your phone

For those of you who didn’t already have FaceTime, it’s now there

You can use iBooks on your computer/laptop

The dock bar is designed differently. Instead of the usual black, I think, it’s now a clear white color.

You can use reminders and there are notifications that you can access from the top right hand corner (near the time)

The mail app, I think, is working faster and it’s much easier to use

It says that the requirement is to have 10.9.1 but before I downloaded the new upgrade my own laptop was only at 10.6 something. It worked completely fine and now it’s working wonderfully. So if you don’t have the requirement, you might as well just try it and see if it works. There’s no harm in that, right? I don’t know.

The new technology gadgets are fascinating. I always get perked up when I hear something new came out. Whether it’s a phone, or laptop or random software I would use, I LOVE to pick it up and see how things work. The designs of some of our things are plainly beautiful. I wonder if I’m the only one with this fascination.

He Seems Great….

He Seems Great….

His name…well that doesn’t matter. His age…I don’t think it will either right now. His species…well, he’s a human. He’s a sweet-hearted, kind, caring, friendly human being. His kind…tries to always put others first. He almost got it down. He puts other people’s feelings first. Their thoughts and their circumstances first. He’s a wonderful guy. Well….he seemed like a wonderful guy.

Where do I start? So many things have happened from when we met until now. -sigh- I guess I’ll briefly go through it all. First, I had moved from one place to another. I still live at the same area but I am forced to spend most of my day somewhere else. I had met him through an old friend from school. It had been years since we really talked or anything. She saw that I didn’t know many people and decided to let me stay with her group and introduce me to everyone. A few were already known to me, we were all friends from school. But two people I met stood out to me the most, one would be my friend’s boyfriend (a very sweet gentleman) and the other being the boy I’m talking about. They both seemed very friendly and sweet, along with caring and trustworthy. Don’t get me wrong, they still both seem like very wonderful guys (one more than the other), but I guess the situations we were put through made things take a weird turn.

We all talked and hung out many times during each and every day. I was welcomed just as if I had always been there. It was very nice to be able to feel right at home at such a new and far away place. Although my move was very welcoming, I still felt a little out of place. But thanks to this boy, I was starting to feel wanted and at home once again. He seemed to be a great friend and my friend kept telling me good things about the guy. I didn’t think he could ever turn out bad. But the friendship was ruined with he asked me out, not even one or two months after meeting. I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t even know the guy. Of course I declined, but I felt bad. He was a really sweet guy. I liked him and everything, but definitely not like that.

After a while, things seemed to settle down. He still talked to me, and things weren’t quite awkward anymore. I thought everything was fine, so I decided to forget he ever asked me out. Later on, I met another guy and he starting to hang out with us. He was really sweet, friendly, loving and caring. I was always smiling and laughing with him. I loved it. But the thing was, my first friend started to avoid me. He didn’t talk to me as much. He was really cold and bitter. I didn’t know what was going on. I became really worried. Even with this new guy I met, I was worried because I felt him watching us and I knew he felt horrible because something I did. After I talked to the rest of the group, I finally found out that he was more or less jealous, and giving me space to be with someone else. There was a misunderstanding. I loved being with this guy, but we were never dating or anything. But it was too late because even after telling everyone, things didn’t go back to normal. The boy who was trying to give me space and get over me, didn’t continue to talk to me, but instead avoided me even more. The new guy I met, started backing away, not wanting to develop feelings for me too strongly. I didn’t know what to do. Two wonderful guys walked away from me.

A while later, we all started talking again. It was much less often, but I guessed it was better than silence. I went along with it. The new guy became a great new close friend. My old friend and her boyfriend became really great friends. But the only person who didn’t develop this awesome connection with is the guy who asked me out. I shrugged it off, knowing he needed to get over me. I only talked to him when he talked to me. I knew it was the right thing to do. Then later, we started talking more and more. It was nice. Everything nearly went back to how they were. I was really happy.

But then, I hear that he got a girlfriend. The guy who asked me out got a girlfriend. It hadn’t been that long since he asked me out. Nearly only a couple months. I worried whether it was a rebound relationship. I went along with it. I met this new girlfriend of his. She shot daggers me way right away. I knew she didn’t like me. Day by day, he went to spend his time with her instead of us. I understood when it was their first weeks together as a couple and everything. But after he brought her over to hang out with us, I thought we were gaining a member of the group…but instead we lost one. Day by day, I saw less of him. We talked less. This, I shook my head at. The second he found someone to occupy his time with, he ditched me. And I had such high hopes for everything going back to normal.

He seems like a great guy. But…

He’s Fed Up

He’s Fed Up

It’s been a while since she talked to him. Knowing that so many things have changed since the time they met to this very day, she asks him, once again, how his opinion has changed from when they met; she hadn’t been satisfied when the only thing she got back last time was a question asking whether she wanted the sugar-coated version or the plain truth. She already knew it wasn’t going to be good from that point forward, but she tried to keep your head high and a positive mind. Her friend told her it wasn’t going to be as bad as she was thinking, maybe her friend was right.

She waited and waited, nervous as ever, for his reply. His reply ended up being “Fed up.” Her heart broke. Was he fed up with her? With their friendship? With what? With a hundred questions running through her mind, she tried to calm herself before typing a question mark on the keyboard and clicked enter. The wait was devastating. It was heart-breaking and bone crunching. The wait was torturous.

The Question is WHY

The Question is WHY

I write. Why? Many people do things we don’t know the reason behind it. We don’t know why people see different things in the clouds. We don’t know why butterflies are more appealing to some than to others. We don’t know why people would rather sleep on the ground wrapped in blankets and pillows than on the comforts of a warm bed. We don’t know why people do many things, so why do we always find ourselves asking the same exact question? “Why?”

Why? We want to know. We want to know the unknown. Why things happen the way they do. Whether we can fix the unfixable and the untouchable. What we are capable of and where our limits lay. Where the horizon meets the ocean and if one of those stars can replace the sun. The question is “Why?” and the answer is “We want to know the unknown.”

Everything has been the unknown at one point. We didn’t always have what we do. We didn’t know the existence of cells and microorganisms until we found them. We didn’t know light could be controlled with a flick of a switch. We didn’t always know how to predict the weather, whether it would be absolutely correct or not. Everything we have around us was once unknown and was once found.

Again. The question is “Why?” and the answer is the same “We want to know the unknown.” Maybe it can do us better, like all the hundreds of other things we have discovered.
